SUMMARY:Alaska Forum Virtual Technical Session: SM-1A Decommissioning and Dismantlement – Project Update
DESCRIPTION:The US Army Corps of Engineers has actively begun to implement the decommissioning and dismantlement of the SM-1A deactivated nuclear power plant located at Fort Greely\, AK.  The team is in the initial planning phases at this point with a planned mobilization date in May 2024.  The update will include details on the history of the project\, our regulatory framework\, where the project is headed in the next 12-18 months\, discusses our planned waste transportation route and tribal consultation\, plus will allow for questions and answers.

DESCRIPTION:ANTHC and FEMA Region 10 are hosting a hybrid Local and Tribal Hazard Mitigation Planning Workshop. This workshop is available both in-person and virtually. It will cover the basics of mitigation planning for local and tribal governments. You will learn about the planning process\, assessing risks and developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies. This workshop reflects guidance\, resources and materials related to FEMA’s 2017 Tribal Mitigation Plan Review Guide and 2022 Local Mitigation Planning Policy Guide. There may be opportunity for one-on-one technical assistance.\nThis workshop is for local and tribal governments\, emergency managers\, planners\, environmental managers\, and other partners. You may be interested if you are updating or will be updating a local\, tribal or multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan within the next year.
