SUMMARY:FEMA Region 10: Alaska Local and Tribal Hazard Mitigation Planning Workshop
DESCRIPTION:ANTHC and FEMA Region 10 are hosting a hybrid Local and Tribal Hazard Mitigation Planning Workshop. This workshop is available both in-person and virtually. It will cover the basics of mitigation planning for local and tribal governments. You will learn about the planning process\, assessing risks and developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies. This workshop reflects guidance\, resources and materials related to FEMA’s 2017 Tribal Mitigation Plan Review Guide and 2022 Local Mitigation Planning Policy Guide. There may be opportunity for one-on-one technical assistance.\nThis workshop is for local and tribal governments\, emergency managers\, planners\, environmental managers\, and other partners. You may be interested if you are updating or will be updating a local\, tribal or multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan within the next year. You may also be interested if you live or work in an area approved for FEMA Public Assistance in a Federally declared disaster such as: Alaska Severe Storm\, Flooding\, and Landslides (Typhoon Merbok\, fema.gov/disaster/4672).\nIn-person and Zoom attendance opportunities.\nRegistration is required: bit.ly/AKHMPWorkshop23\nOPPORTUNITIES FOR CREDIT: You may be eligible to earn Continuing Education Credits from the Association of State Floodplain Managers and Certification Maintenance Credits from the American Institute of Certified Planners if you attend all days.
