The Alaska Forum in partnership with the State of Alaska and EPA is excited to offer complimentary Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training to Alaskans residing in rural communities.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates individuals about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

This training will take place both online and in-person.

The online portion is a cumulative of 12 hours of guided coursework which can be completed at your own pace

The in-person portion will take place in Anchorage at the BP Energy Center on designated training day.

Once registered, you will be enrolled for the online portion through the University of Utah and provided log in information to complete the online course work. When your 12 hours of coursework is complete, you will be asked to provide proof of completion to the Alaska Forum and then authorized to make your travel arrangements to the Anchorage training.
Students who successfully complete both the online and in-person course will be provided a CERT Emergency Response Kit that includes a durable, tactical backpack, hard hat with CERT logo, safety goggles and gloves, surgical masks, a face shield, safety vest, flash lights and more!
Travel and Reimbursement Information:
Students who successfully complete the 12 hours of online coursework will be asked to make their own travel arrangements to Anchorage. Travel, lodging, meals, and cab fare to/from the airport and training can be reimbursed up to $1500. Breakfast and lunch will be provided during the day of training.

To qualify for reimbursement, students must save and submit receipts along with a completed reimbursement form the Alaska Forum within 30 days of training completion. We cannot reimburse per diem checks, receipts must be provided for each reimbursement item. The reimbursement form will be provided at the in-person training. Only students who complete the 12 hours of online coursework and provide proof completion prior to the in-person training portion and completes the in-person training will be eligible for reimbursement.
A separate travel reimbursement form should be filled out for each entity/person due the reimbursement. For instance if your employer paid your airfare please fill out a reimbursement form with your employer’s information. If you, personally paid for a meal or cab fare please fill out a separate reimbursement form listing yourself as the payee.
