By meeting the Green Star Standards, these organizations can demonstrate to the public that they have gone well beyond compliance with environmental regulations and have voluntarily implemented a thorough waste prevention and pollution prevention plan.

About AFE

The Alaska Forum on the Environment (AFE) is a statewide gathering of environmental professionals from government agencies, non-profit and for-profit businesses, community leaders, Alaskan youth, conservationists, biologists and community elders. The 2018 event will be at the Dena'ina Center in Anchorage, Alaska on February 12-16, 2018.  This will be our 20th year providing a strong educational foundation for all Alaskans and a unique opportunity to interact with others on environmental issues and challenges. Green Star is a program of the Alaska Forum and serves Alaska as a Pollution Prevention Resource. The Green Star Program works collaboratively with businesses and organizations that desire to implement waste reduction, energy conservation, pollution prevention and to promote environmental protections.  This is accomplished through education, technical assistance, and the Green Star certification program. Learn More >

About Apprenticeship

The Alaska Forum is the registered sponsor of the Environmental Technician Apprenticeship Program by the US Department of Labor. An Environmental Technician Apprentice will receive specific classroom instruction and work 4,000 hours of on-the-job training to develop skills as a proficient and versatile worker.
